7 days Best of South of Tanzania safari includes 3 national parks of the Southern Tanzania: Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park and Selous Game Reserve. Tanzania’s Southern Circuit is still wild and unspoilt, the real Africa, with more lions than tourists.
Day 1; Arrive at Dar Es Salaam Airport
Arrive at Dar es Salaam International Airport. Then take a short transfer to the city of Dar es Salaam for dinner and overnight
Day 2; Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
After breakfast we start drive to Mikumi National park. Game drive in Mikumi in the afternoon if time allows.
Mikumi is known for its large herds of elephants and is also known as the ‘little Serengeti’. Mikumi is also a good place to see lions and huge Baobab trees.
Day 3; Mikumi – Ruaha National Park
After breakfast we start drive to Ruaha National Park. We drive through the mountains and make a stop at a small village to see the rural way of local life beneath a huge Baobab tree.
Day 4; Full day Game drive in Ruaha
Early morning breakfast at the Camp/lodge. Full day game drive in Ruaha National Park afterwards. Picnic lunch on our way.
Ruaha has a magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife, including elephant, giraffe, kudu, sable antelope, eland, African wild dog, cheetah and large prides of lion.
Day 5; Ruaha National Park – Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast at the Lodge/Camp we drive to Selous Game Reserve, Game drive at the park with picnic lunch at afternoon.
Selous is the biggest game reserve of Tanzania and the best place to see African Wild Dogs.
Day 6; Full Day game viewing in Selous
Early breakfast at the lodge and full day game drive in Selous afterwards. Picnic lunch on our way.
It is also possible to make another boat trip in the afternoon (optional).
Day 7; Selous Game Reserve – Dar es Salaam
Early morning walking safari. Transfer to Dar es Salaam afterwards. Make a city tour through the city if time allows. It is also possible to visit a local village (optional). Transfer to the airport for your flight home or to Zanzibar.
